Loretta Park's chorus finished off the 2023 school spring concert with a rendition of "California Dreaming" by The Mamas and the Papas to get the audience into a springtime mood on May 10.
The spring concert began with the instrument ensemble and specifically, the fourth-grade ensemble performed Walt Hampton's "Simon' on drums and xylophone. The fifth-grade group had two numbers to perform including another Hampton piece entitled "Thump" which was followed by "The Bassman."
The chorus then concluded the show with five songs that took the audience on a world journey. First, the chorus sang "Siyahamba," a South African hymn with a Swahili title that means "We Are Marching." Next was a performance of "I Hear the Windmill" in French (J'entends Le Moulin) followed by a Southern-inspired song called "Crawdad Creek." Before the aforementioned closing number, four members of the chorus stepped out as soloists to lead the group in "Homeward Bound."
